Women's Chorale Performance
Nov 21  7:30 - 9pm

The Women’s Chorale @171 presents “A Choral Cornucopia: An Autumn Harvest of Music from Many Lands” on Friday, November 21. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 33 E. First St. in Corning. A free-will offering will be taken; the Chorale will also collect canned goods for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier

Under the direction of Dr. Carl Johengen, the Women’s Chorale @171 is enjoying a successful reboot this year, having welcomed a large number of new and returning singers. The Chorale has been in existence since 1990 and has performed throughout the Southern Finger Lakes. The Chorale will be joined by Corning pianist and 171 Cedar faculty member Claire Smock. The program will include arrangements of American folk songs, a Cherokee morning song, a Japanese children’s song, music to poetry by Emily Dickinson and Ralph Waldo Emerson, and some Christmas selections including one composed by Elmira native Dan Forrest. The Chorale is always eager to welcome new members and to share our passion for singing. A new semester will begin in January 2015
