171 Cedar Arts Center is pleased to announce Ringhoff Art: Midlife Crisis, a solo exhibition of new work by Mariah Seminara. The exhibit will be on display September 30 - October 25, 2013. An opening reception will be held Friday, October 18 beginning at 5 pm. 171's Houghton Gallery is located at 155 Cedar Street (corner of First and Cedar Streets), Corning, NY. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

Seminara's "Ringhoff" series began when she started drawing doodles on her walls just to try something new. Her adventure became a passion and has transformed into a new type of art - Ringhoff Art.
What is a Ringhoff?
What indeed? Ringhoff Art is the art of drawing nothing. The essence of each piece  forms first in the mind of the artist, and then through the energy created between the piece and its viewer. Ringhoff Art frees the mind from what is "correct" and what "should be." Seminara's goal is to create something beautiful and energetic from nothing but her imagination.

Inspired by Carl Jung's The Red Book and Jackson Pollock's action painting techniques, Midlife Crisis at 171 Cedar Arts Center's Houghton Gallery is her most current work with Ringhoff art. It is her hope that Midlife Crisis will delight the viewer with the art of nothing.
