JOB TITLE : Administrative Support Staff (Part-time)

REPORTS TO: Administrative Manager
SCHEDULE: Part-time, hourly 
START DATE: Immediately
DAYS/HOURS REQUIREMENT:  Primarily evening shifts and weekends. Candidates may be asked to work as early as 8:00 am or work as late as 10:00 pm

A Glimpse at the Job
As a crucial first point of contact, front desk Administrative Support Staff greets and communicates with all who attend classes and visit 171 Cedar Arts Center. 
 
Support Staff possess excellent communication skills - both verbal and written - along with the proven ability to provide exceptional customer service. The best candidates will exhibit the ability to present a positive, welcoming and helpful attitude, work independently, and demonstrate strong organizational, computer and communication skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced arts education environment.
 
This is a part-time, hourly position, requiring evening and weekend availability (between 10-35 hours per week)

Part-time Ceramics Instructors - 171 is looking for dynamic ceramics instructors to offer classes, camps, and workshops in upcoming terms. Successful candidates will possess training and work experience in teaching ceramics, and demonstrable skills in curriculum planning. Candidates must be comfortable working with a wide range of ages and skill-levels.

171's Community Ceramic studio features:

  • Wheel room with a canvas wedging table, 5 Shimpo, 5 Brent wheels, and 2 Artista table top wheels
  • Hand-building room with a large canvas table, a Brent slab roller, a North Star extruder, and numerous plaster/clay molds
  • Front-loading Bailey Thermal Logic Electric kiln (17.9 ft3)
  • Venco pugmill for clay recycling
  • 20+ studio mixed glazes
  • 16 Amaco velvet underglazes
  • Communal studio tools
  • An extensive ceramic resource library

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in art, education, or related field of study
  • Experience instructing up to 12 students during a class
  • Experience and proficiency with wheel throwing and/or hand-building
  • Enthusiastic and engaging
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Have new ideas for class proposals
  • Ready to lead students in exploring fundamental methods, new techniques, concepts, and processes
