Exploring Alcohol Inks (ID# 2018-4595)

 (1 day)
Ages: 13+
Members - $30.00 / Non-Members - $36.00

Experiment with a new medium, alcohol inks! We will begin watching Jen Maffet demo a few alcohol ink techniques, and then begin experimenting with different colors on yupo paper and ceramic tiles. If you've tried watercolor, you might be interested in trying this medium. Typically alcohol ink is used on paper, but we'll be using it on a non-absorbent substrate for interesting effects. Students can expect to take home 4 pieces of their own art on tiles or yupo paper. Work can range from abstract to loosely detailed.

Photographers are capable of so much more than the selfie. In reality, all thatís needed is a camera phone and a sense of creative adventure. Jessica will teach you that a "fancy" camera is not required to make beautiful digital art. You have power in your pocket to wow the world with the beauty of life from your perspective. Students will walk away with a basic knowledge of composition, timer functions, editing applications, hashtags, and using unconventional portrait techniques as an artist. Students will need to bring a phone to class and be prepared to use it. Students should take notes on their phone or with a good old fashioned notebook. Class will take photo walks down on Market Street, so dress appropriately!
