Patricia Jackson
Visual ArtsAfter many years of doing “other things,” including the practice of law, Patricia now focuses her time and energies on more artistic endeavors. She became taken with soft pastels after taking a number of evening classes with Shelley Haven at the Cooper Union, in New York City, and pastels remain her primary and favorite media. She enjoys the vibrant colors and subtle tones that can be readily achieved with soft pastels, and uses handmade and other interesting papers, including etchings and other prints, to enhance the texture and composition of her work. She also combines pastels with other media, particularly water colors and gouache. Favorite subjects include landscapes, flowers and fruit (particularly pears) – on both large and small scales. Patricia also works with other fine art media, including traditional tempera and encaustic paints, and with Precious Metal Clay® (PMC), to produce fine silver jewelry pieces. More recently, she has returned to printmaking and has begun experimenting with glass.
