Moving Metal: 12 WEEKS (1673)

Using a variety of salvaged metals (copper, tin and steel), students will learn soft metal working techniques. Skills will include riveting, soldering, hammer techniques, embossing, wire wrapping, fold forming, patination and more. Come explore the magic of moving metal with instructors Tony Moretti and Gwen Quigley.

Adinkra Cloth Potato Prints Workshop I (2013-1920)

Students will create, carve and print their own designs on fabric, using potatos, fabric paints and Adinkra symbols from West Africa as inspiration. Instructor Erica Flanagan will talk about visual storytelling, color mixing, and will demonstrate an edge-finishing stitch for completed projects.  *Children ages 6 to 8 must be accompanied by an adult, as sharp tools will be used.

Combining the fun of geocaching with the satisfaction of creating and collecting artful treasures, letterboxing is a perfect activity for families who enjoy exploring, solving mysteries, and sharing adventures. Learn letterboxing basics as you design and make your own stamps and log-books, then try them out as we explore one of Corning's nearby letterboxing trails. We'll also work as a class to make and hide a 171 letterbox, and will talk about web resources for finding and enjoying letterboxing trails near and far.

This class is for the beginning and intermediate painter. We will work from life and photographs, reviewing the basics of watercolor painting and learning some new techniques.

OIL PAINTING WITH DUSTIN BOUTWELL

Offered year-round, this class is a favorite among beginning and continuing painting students alike. Instructor Dustin Boutwell combines occasional demonstrations with ample individualized instruction, helping each student achieve his or her goals by moving through the classroom to answer questions, problem solve and offer thoughtful critique. Whether you're putting brush to canvas for the very first time or you need help completing your masterpiece, this supportive and flexible class is ideal. Students choose and supply their own subject matter; all other materials provided. New students should bring a variety of still life objects and/or photographs to the first class. New students must attend a demo/set-up workshop with Dustin prior to joining the class. Please call to schedule.
