Artful Raffle 2012

July 27, 2012

Congratulations to this past year's Artful Raffle winners, Polly Chu and Bill Mattingly!

A big 171 thank you to Bridget Bossart van Otterloo for her generosity, and on-going support!

Artist Statement
My paintings are about the beauty in nature. In my artwork I represent nature accurately, but also with my own impression. My paintings are done in oil or watercolor. I use both mediums in thin transparent layers. This technique allows light to pass through and bounce off different layers of paint creating a luminous glow. In the gold and silver metal leaf paintings I have been exploring a different feeling of space around the subjects. The daily inspiration for my artwork comes from nature - as Albrecht Durer said, “art is embedded in nature; he who can extract it, has it.” I hope that after looking at my paintings you will have a deeper love and appreciation of our natural world.
